4 Man Best Ball Rules – Front 9:

  • Each player plays their own ball for the entire hole, following standard golf rules.
  • The team’s score on each hole is the lowest individual score among teammates.
  • Players can help each other with reads, club selection, and strategy, but each shot is their own.
  • If a player’s ball is unlikely to beat their partner’s score, they can pick up without penalizing the team.
  • Standard golf rules apply for out-of-bounds, penalties, and lost balls per individual player.

4 Man Scramble Rules – Back 9:

Team Format:

  • All players tee off on every hole.

  • The team selects the best shot, and both players play their next shot from that spot.

  • This process continues until the ball is holed.

Playing the Shot:

  • The selected ball must be played from within one club length, no closer to the hole, and must remain in the same condition (e.g., rough stays in rough, bunker stays in bunker).

  • On the putting green, the ball must be placed within one putter head length of the selected spot.

Tee Shots Requirement:

  • Each player must contribute a minimum number of tee shots during the round (2 per player).

  • This ensures balanced team participation—keep track as you go.

Scoring:

  • The team records the lowest number of strokes taken to complete each hole.

  • Turn in your team scorecard at the end of the round.

Pace of Play:

  • Keep up with the group ahead.

  • Play ready golf and be prepared for your next shot.

  • Limit lost ball searches to 3 minutes.

Ties:

  • In the event of a tie, we will ask if we can play a single hole. If we are not allowed, we will have a chip off at the practice green, closest to the pin wins.

Penalty:

If both players hit their shots into a water hazard, out of bounds or the ball is lost.

Drop at Point of Entry

  • The team may drop a ball near where it crossed into the hazard, crossed out of bounds or near where lost, with a one-stroke penalty.

  • Both players then play their next shot from that drop area, continuing the scramble format.
